Abuja-Kaduna rail project 70% complete

The rail system that will connect Abuja and Kaduna is expected to be completed by December 2014.

The Abuja-Kaduna rail project, executed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is expected to be complete by December 2014.

It is now 70 percent done, reports allAfrica.

“We started Abuja to Kaduna in the year 2010 precisely. The contract was awarded to CCECC at a total cost of 849 million US dollars,” said Federal Director of Railways, Engr. Barau Gafar.

When finalised, trains will run at a speed of 120km to 150km per hour, and anyone living in Kaduna will traverse to Abuja in approximately 45 minutes to one hour, he said.
