With fifteen shops across West Africa, Southern Africa, and the opening of two new outlets in Kinshasa early in 2013, Vlisco Group – operating from the Netherlands since 1846 – will open a center of excellence in Accra next December.
“The company runs 63 million meters of fabric annually and generates nearly 90% of its sales on the African continent,” Hans Ouwendijk, the company’s CEO, told Jeune Afrique. “Vlisco employs more than 2,800 employees, including almost 2,000 in West Africa. In 2012, the company recorded a turnover of 268 million euros. It should reach 300 million euros in 2013.”
