Lagos welcomes the second African Athletics Masters Championship

The second African Athletics Masters Championship, celebrated for the first time last year in South Africa, will be held on Teslim Balogun Stadium on December 6th and 7th, will count on the participation of 150 athletics oldies from Nigeria and Cameroun, as reported by All Africa.

“It is very important to give support to these athletes who were once active” said Sergi Beckers, the World Masters Association vice- president.

The Championship, has been posponed from June to December due to dwindling patronage by government and private concerns. This year’s editions hopes to enhance the Athletics masters movement in the continent.

“Things are very tight at the moment, but we are confident that we will pull it off. Over 150 Nigerian and Cameroon masters are on ground and we expect a very healthy competition” optimistically stated Gloria Obajimi, Chairperson of the organising committee.
