The School of Architecture and Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa) is looking for a new Head of School, to start from 1 April 2017 or thereafter by agreement.
The School includes two accredited professional programmes in architecture and planning, and also offers postgraduate degrees in urban design, urban studies and other areas. It hosts over 500 students.
Applicants should have a PhD in the field of Architecture, Planning or Urban Design, or professional and design accomplishments meriting appointment at a professorial level.
Management experience at a high level is essential, along with experience of team building and leadership skills. A strong national, and ideally an international profile in at least one of the key fields is required. A practice or research orientation towards development in Africa would be a strong advantage.
