Funded one-year sustainable cities program: MIT (USA) and UTM (Malaysia)

The MIT-UTM Malaysia Sustainable Cities Program (MSCP) is seeking applications from university faculty and senior researchers in the Global South for a fully funded, two-semester Visiting Scholars program. Ten scholars reside at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Fall 2017 and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Spring 2018 to research and document sustainable urban development in Malaysia. The program invites scholars interested in infrastructure development, affordable housing, displacement, public transportation, civic engagement, sustainability benchmarking, urban design, historic preservation, coastal resource management, protected area resilience, ecosystem services, high-tech job creation, and other allied fields.

Applicants should hold a terminal degree and have graduate-level teaching experience in the developing world in a field related to urban planning or urban development.
