Venue: Urban Futures Centre, Durban University of Technology
The Urban Futures Centre (UFC) at the Durban University of Technology provides an intellectual space for engagement about the future of cities through the creation of a local and global network of scholars, practitioners, city officials, and civil society actors.
The UFC is an academic and practical research hub geared toward shaping urban spaces that are vibrant, resilient, accessible, socially just, caring and well-designed.
The UFC is looking for 2 post-doctoral candidates to start in the year 2017. The post-doctoral posts are for a one-year period, renewal beyond the first year depends on satisfactory performance in that year and funding.
Applicants are required to:
• have completed a doctoral degree either in the field of Humanities or the Built Environment within the last five years;
• be based at DUT for the duration of the fellowship, and not hold simultaneous fellowships from other institutions;
• have an interest in doing research that has an engagement component;
• have a strong interest in working as part of a team.
The successful candidates would be required to publish a minimum of 2 publication units per annum in DHET/ISI/IBSS accredited journals. In addition, they would be required to contribute to one of the following projects: Migrants and the inclusive city; Street level drug use; and social housing, neighbourhoods and belonging.
