The Centre for Urban Policy Studies at the University of Manchester seeks to appoint a Research Assistant. You will work directly with Richard Kingston, Stephen Hincks and Cecilia Wong to support the delivery of the project, “Transportation and the socio-spatial equity dimensions of travel to work flows”. This new project is funded by the ESRC as part of their Secondary Data Analysis programme.

The main focus of the role will be on sourcing and analysing appropriate flow data from the 2001 and 2011 Census of Population. The successful applicant will be responsible for collating and analysing local administrative data from secondary sources and overlaying these data in GIS with the results of the commuting analysis. You will work closely with our web-programmer to ensure datasets are open and interoperable with the online toolkit that is a major output of the project.
