The Department of Environmental and Geographical Science seeks to make an Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer level appointment.  This is a new permanent academic position on academic conditions of service and is available from 1 January 2016.

The Department of Higher Education and Training’s New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) has provided the opportunity to make this appointment. The successful candidate would be given a reduced teaching and administrative load for the first three years to enable participation in academic training courses and, if relevant, completion of his or her PhD.

Candidates should ideally hold, or have made significant progress in completing, a PhD.

For appointment at Lecturer level, a completed PhD and a publication track record is required.   For appointment at either level, an ability to undertake independent research and a commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching are desired. Candidates whose expertise in any aspect of environmental sustainability and Human Geography that complements existing strengths in the Department, and its associated research units and clusters, are especially welcome.

Lecturer level:                           R528 275
