Viva Riva!!!

If Quentin Tarantino made a movie based in an African city, Kinshasa, with it’s gritty streets and bustling music would make for the ideal setting. Djo Tunda Wa Munga, a Kinshasa based director has now beat him to it with Viva Riva, a congolese gangster movie that shows the many sides of the city, one of the fastest growing in the world. The film deals with the fight for resources in the DRC capital amid the wild partying, sex and a shadowy underworld, seen through the adventures of Riva, a thief recently arrived from Angola with a truckload of hijacked gas into a Kinshasa struggling with fuel shortages. It’s Kinshasa as you have never seen or imagined it. Munga, who owns the only production company in Congo has made a vibrant and entertaining film. View trailer…
